Corona Doily Round 7

I had hoped to post an update last night, but it was a bit late when I finished tatting this round. It was pretty easy tatting but since I had to work the last several days, I didn't get as much tatted each night as I hoped. I'm off for a few days, so I should get more done. Anyway, here is the doily at the end of round 8:

I think it is looking pretty good. It is staying fairly flat, so it should only need a light blocking once it is done. I think one of the problems I have been having is that my joining picots are on the large size compared with Judith's. I am also using size 20 thread instead of size 40. That shouldn't be a problem in tatting though. As a reminder, to you and me, I am using Manuela no. 20 thread in colour number A058. This was one of the ones I purchased from DS9Designs earlier this year.

The next round should be fairly quick; it's just chains. It's funny. Like Diane, I am finding I am tatting more so I can have something to post. As I tat this doily, I am thinking about my next project. I am pretty sure it will be the Jan Stawasz Masterpiece doily. I am not sure what colour(s) I will use or if it will be white/ecru. I think I want a few colours, as I like how Jane E.'s is turning out. Since I'm sure it will take me awhile to complete, I have not plans for it at this time. It will be rather large as well; the pattern states 84 cm when done in size 10. I will probably use size 20 maximum. Anyway, till next time.

  1. Looking good, real good :) I am doing one color on the monster and I think I would not put it off so much if I had changed color, it may just be an individual thing, I started and finished a different one that was large and it had multicolored in it and had to go back to monster. They are all fun to see and watch progress and colors too.

  3. Thanks Madtatter80. I like Diane's 'cause it's in one colour and I like Jane E's because it's in multiple colours. I really can't decide, but need too, since I'm sure I'll only make one.

Thanks tattrldy. I like the way the triangle motifs look in the doily too. My next project is essentially chosen, the colours are not.

  4. Love the colour you're using for this. Deciding on what to use for the monster doily was hard but, for once, I'm pleased with my choices. Adding beads made it a little slower to tat but added the extra interest to prevent it from becoming boring!

    1. Thanks Jane. I love the colour too. I have a few colours picked out, but I'm still deciding. I doubt I'll add beads though. I'm sure I'll find it interesting enough!

  5. I think I might have to add this Corona Doily to my tat list... it's looking great! Of course, you know I love blue! Whatever you choose for the JS doily, I think you will enjoy tatting it. I started mine December 29, and even though I've had several setbacks due to my own errors, I have enjoyed every minute of it!

    1. You should Diane! It's pretty easy to tat, nothing fancy except for SCMRs for the triangle motifs. I know how much you love blue; as much or even more than me! I'm sure it's going to take me a while. I guess I won't know till I start tatting it.

    1. Of course Fox! I really, really, really, want to keep tatting and blogging. It is very therapeutic for me.

I'm glad you like it. I've wanted to tat it since I got the book.
